December in New York City

Saturday, Elizabeth and I made a special trip to New York City. We took the train to Grand Central, where our good friend Melissa met us and became our tour guide for the day. First up, Rockefeller Center which Elizabeth loved - the tree, the giant nutcrackers, the ice skaters, all of it. From there, on to the American Girl store - it was a bit overwhelming, especially the masses of people. After a quick snack, we spent a good two hours at FAO Schwarz - and no question, the hit was the Barbie exhibit - she was simply fascinated with it (and she doesn't even own a Barbie). After FAO, we met up with Mark (Melissa's prince), made a quick trip to the Apple store and then went to lunch. By the time we made it through the masses of people back to Grand Central, we only had a few minutes to catch the train exhibit before we had to catch our own train home. But it was worth it - the trains were her favorite part of the day (Melissa, after the Barbie experience, can you believe it?!). Click here for more pictures.

The toy train exhibit - this train happened to be The Polar Express.

The fact that it was dark outside didn't stop her from staring out the train window almost the entire ride home.
