NWC Soccer - October

The Northwest Catholic girls went undefeated in the month of October, including avenging their only loss of the season with a 2-0 victory over Hall. At the beginning of the season, we did not think that the girls would earn enough wins to qualify for the state tournament and by the time the regular season ended, there was only one team in Class L with a better record. Emily has never played on a NWC team that was even remotely favored in the tournament, so to be in this position is not only unusual, but a bit scary, because this time around, they have expectations.

First goal of the season, off of a free kick.

UNH Rugby

Elizabeth is playing club rugby this fall and it is crazy to watch. I've been to a couple of her game - she's a crazy good at tackling and had a great "try" (which appears to be a touchdown) during her second game.

Tackling machine!

Clarkson Women's Soccer 2028

Last month, Emily announced that she will be attending Clarkson University, where she will choose a STEM major and play soccer. Her announcement brought an end to a long recruiting process for her. In late fall of 2022, she made a very good list of target schools and reached out to coaches with her recruiting video and a well thought out email. Almost every coach responded to her and thus began the long process of email conversations, phone calls, ID camps, more phone calls and emails, campus visits and finally, a decision. We initially visited Clarkson in early April and while she didn't love the campus, she really liked the coach, the program, and the playing style. She kept in touch with the coach, but continued to speak with several other coaches, as well going on visits. When it came time for ID camps and scouting visits from coaches, she performed at her absolute best for the Clarkson coach and we thought that it might be a sign. We planned a visit in September, during which we were able to take in two home games and Emily had an overnight with some of the girls on the team. The campus was gorgeous, she loved the players she hung out with, she felt great about the dorms. When we went to meet with the coaches on Sunday, she accepted the offer that she had been weighing since early summer. They were thrilled and Emily was genuinely happy and relieved to have made her decision at last.

30th Class Reunion

A few weekends ago, we attended my 30th class reunion. We are lucky that so many of our friends decided to go - we had a wonderful time with them at dinner before heading to reunion and seeing many people that we haven't seen since my 20th.

NWC Soccer - September

The NWC girls soccer season started off in the most disappointing way, as they dropped a 2-0 decision to their biggest rival, Hall. In Emily's time at NWC, they've played Hall 8 times, and only lost once, so it was a crushing blow to start off the season and it looked like the next 15 games would be brutal. The team, however, made some great adjustments and they haven't lost since, going 5-1-1 for the month of September. During the last week of the month, they beat Glastonbury for the first time in school history and then took down Simsbury for the final time. We are excited to see what October brings and if they can make the tournament again this year.
