Weekend in New Hampshire

We spent the second weekend of the month in New Hampshire. Emily arrived home from school just in time to travel with us to Joe & Karen's to celebrate family Christmas. We then headed to stay with Grammy, sharing food and gifts on Sunday morning. We went to visit my parents and Grampy in Boscawen and then fit in some visits with other relatives as well, before heading to Brown's (in a snow storm, of course) so that Elizabeth could get in her yearly fix. All in all, an exhausting but lovely weekend.

Brown's during a snow storm is a completely different experience than Brown's in the summer.

Browns 2024

Although we didn't have our annual beach vacation this summer, we still made our annual pilgrimage to Brown's for Lobster.

Browns 2022

The group for our annual family trip to Brown's was a bit smaller this year as Peter had COVID and Karen had a concussion, but those of us that were able to make it made a strong showing, putting away plenty of lobster, steamers and clam chowder.  We finished it all off with a trip to the Beach Plum (formerly Pope's) for ice cream (and a parking ticket).

Browns 2021

We took our annual family trip to Brown's in July.  It was hard being there without my dad, but he and my mom would have been so happy to see us all together (just missing Mike & Sandra), keeping the tradition alive.

Elizabeth stuck this photo of her and my dad at Brown's on her rearview mirror before we left on vacation.

Ice cream stop at the Beach Plum, which used to be Pope's (our go-to spot when we were kids) to complete the trip down memory lane.

Brown's 2020

Our annual visit to Brown's looked a little different this year. With COVID-19, restaurants in New Hampshire are open in only a limited capacity. Although Brown's allowed inside dining, all of the meals were packaged as take out, which definitely took away from the Brown's experience. We usually go to Brown's early to avoid the crowds, but this year we went really early and there was almost no one there. Although we were happy to extend our streak at our favorite lobster pound, we will be much happier next year when we can enjoy the experience with family and things are back to normal.

Brown's 2019

As we do every year, we had a great night out at Brown's.  Kathleen, Peter and my dad joined us and everyone enjoyed steamers, lobsters and good company!

Definitely my dad's first selfie!
