All State

When Elizabeth started playing the flute last year, we had no idea that she would fall in love with it and that she would learn to play so well.  Earlier this winter, she and four other students from her school were selected to play for the Connecticut Future Musicians All State Gala Band.  She was so excited and could not wait to begin learning her new music.  The concert was last weekend and we were so impressed - not only with the Gala Band, but all of the other musical groups.

The Never Ending Winter

It's the end of March and we had snow showers this morning and three inches of snow fell just yesterday.  These photos are from back when we still thought that all that white stuff was great...

February Odds and Ends

Photos that didn't make our February posts:

Super Bowl napper.
First storm of February - back when we still thought that the snow was pretty.
Elizabeth's science presentation - Giant Pandas.
Researching boarding schools on a snow day.  This kid is as serious as they come.
One of the city's giant snow blowers, used to widen the streets after our fifth storm.
Having a friend over is the best!
Birthday party at Polka Dots.
Aren't you jealous?

World Thinking Day - Norway

A few weeks ago, Emily's Brownie troop got together with other Brownie, Daisy and Girl Scout troops from around the city to celebrate World Thinking Day.  Her troop decided to study Norway - likely because Anna and Elsa from Frozen are from Norway.  The girls dressed as characters from the movie, learned all kinds of interesting facts about the country and even performed a traditional Norwegian dance.  She had a lot of fun and saw so many people that she knew - from soccer, camp, and church!
We borrowed this gorgeous Anna costume from one of Emily's friends.

Posing in the Viking ship.

Emily and one of her friends from soccer - I've never seen this girl in anything but soccer clothes and actually did a double take when I saw her in her traditional Indian garb.

#TBT

These photos were taken almost exactly three years apart, at the same restaurant, under almost the exact same circumstances (Lee wasn't home, I didn't feel like cooking, so the girls and I went out).  My, how they've changed.

The Best Combination

The girls love Harry Potter and they love Lego, so what could be a better long weekend project than putting together the huge, Hogwarts Castle lego set that Elizabeth received for Christmas last year?  They really got into it, and it came out great.
