Halloween Adventures

The girls really enjoyed Halloween today. Elizabeth was so enthralled with her costume and how beautiful it was - she was floating around all day. As you might imagine, she was thrilled to find out tonight that "trick or treat" involved getting candy - so much so that sometimes she just asked "do you have candy?" instead of "trick or treat!" She was definitely afraid of the big kids and their costumes when we were out and about. Emily tolerated her clown costume (including the hat) which was better than we expected. She was not too into the trick or treating, especially as we reached and then passed her bedtime. All in all, I think that both girls had a good and tiring day!
Our happy little clown is more interested in Peter & Lisa's cat than candy!

Even Cinderella gets tired (especially in those shoes!) and needs a lift from Daddy.

Cinderella and JoJo

This morning, the girls (especially Elizabeth) discovered the joy of Halloween costumes. Elizabeth just couldn't get enough of hers (courtesy of Uncle Mike and Auntie Kelly) and Emily was able to tolerate hers. For those of you that aren't up on your Disney Channel characters, JoJo is a clown in the show JoJo's Circus - so Elizabeth called Emily "JoJo" all day today.

Red Sox Sweep!!

We have been life-long members of Red Sox Nation and honestly, never did we think that we'd see our beloved Red Sox win two World Series in our life time, never mind sweep two World Series. Once again, it's been a great ride.

Alexandre's Baptism

Today we proudly witnesses as Alexandre (baby Anders), the son of our good friends Nicole and David, was baptized in the Catholic Church. It was a lovely service and Anders handled it all quite well. Afterwards, we had a nice lunch with Nicole and David's family and friends.

Playing on the Swing Set

Even though it was as cold and windy as it's been in a long time, the girls were clamoring to go outside all day to play. We are really starting to get a lot of use out of the swing set!

Grammy and Grandpa Come to Town

Today, Grammy and Grandpa came to visit - we were so excited to see them, it's been a long time since they've been to our house! They got to see swimming lessons and spend some quality time playing with the girls. We can't wait to see them again soon.

Growing up before our Eyes!!

Although she's just 16 months old, Emily is growing up right before our very eyes - she understands what we are saying, loves to give high 5's, and started saying "tank u" yesterday. She is excited by everything, moves with lightening quick speed, and can't get enough of her sister, her daddy and her mommy.

Ahh yes, she can scale the swingset ladder. . . .

Pumpkin Carving

Last Sunday, we carved our pumpkin for Halloween. Elizabeth, in particular, really enjoyed the whole process, including baking - and eating - the seeds afterwards!

Field Trip to Lyman

Yesterday, Emily and Lee joined Emily's play group on a field trip to Lyman Orchards. Emily was a bit cranky so they did not stay too long. They did have the chance to check out the ducks, the pumpkins and the apples while they were there.

Pumpkin Seed Hill 2007

Saturday, we visited Pumpkin Seed Hill, part of Jones Family Farm. This is one of the most amazing places and it gets better every year. We checked out the farm animals, went on a hay ride, picked the perfect pumpkin and even did some dancing. We had great weather, the girls had a wonderful time, and it was the perfect way to spend a brisk October afternoon. (I have to admit, fall is my most favorite time of year and I just love Jones Family Farm).

Dance Hall Dollies

This year, Jones added a bunch of new stuff, including Dance Hall Dollies, a stage where the little kids could dance to some country music. The stage was packed with little ones and our girls just loved it.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer

This morning, Elizabeth, Emily and I participated in Hartford's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk, our third annual walk together. We joined thousands of other walkers for this worthy cause. There is still time for you to make a donation (click here). Thank you to everyone that has contributed so far - your generosity is appreciated.

Dave & Sara's Wedding

Last night, we attended Dave & Sara's (or Fireman Dave and Miss Sara, as Elizabeth exclaimed this morning) wedding (more pictures here). It was a lovely fall night and the wedding was beautiful. We wish Dave and Sara much happiness as they start a long life together.

"Elliot"

Considering that Elizabeth's first word was "Rudy," it should come as no surprise that another one of our animals, Elliot, made it into Emily's first five words - number four, to be precise, after Dada, Mama, and dog.

Rose's Berry Farm

Today, Elizabeth's preschool took a field trip to Rose's Berry Farm and I was lucky enough to go along. It was great to have the opportunity to watch her interact with her friends and teachers. She had a great time and we both really enjoyed the mother-daughter time.

Peek-a-Boo! She's growing up right before our very eyes.
The perfect pumpkin? Got it!!
Quality mother-daughter time
She ended the day on the giant slide - fun, fun, fun!!

Emily Can Slide Too

Emily has taken to making sure that Elizabeth knows that its her swingset too. She can't quite handle the ladder yet (because we won't let her!), but she's figured how to get down the slide on her own.

Putting our Vet's Kids Through College

Rudy is our second animal to undergo surgery in two weeks - for a hemotoma in his ear and the hind leg he managed to injure en route to surgery. We feel like we are putting our vet's kids through college!!

Swimming in September

September marked the start of another round of swim classes for the girls - they are both really enjoying themselves. Click here to see more swimming pictures and the rest of our pictures from September.
