Field Museum

On New Year's Eve, it was pouring so we spent the day at the Chicago Field Museum.  It was an insane museum and despite spending almost the entire day there, we were unable to take in all of the exhibits.  We all really enjoyed ourselves and would definitely go back.

The head of "Sue", the largest T-Rex ever discovered.

Sue is a special exhibit at the Field Museum and was so impressive.

My Kind of Town

Although the Winter Classic was in South Bend, we stayed in Chicago.  It was the girls' first trip to the Windy City and despite the cold, they really enjoyed it.  We did a lot of walking on our first day, taking in many touristy sites.

Nike store - Emily has the same shoe size as Alex Morgan and is only a few inches shorter.

Mike and Sandra treated us to a delicious dinner, the culmination of which was this insane dessert.
The next day, it poured....
So. Much.  Fog.

We had dinner at at Lou Malnati's and the girls experienced deep dish pizza for the first time.

Winter Classic Odds and Ends

McAvoy was hurt, so he was a lot easier to see. Here he is as the players head to the locker room.

National Anthem.

McAvoy again.

Marchand

My favorite Bruins player is Brad Marchand and knowing that Elizabeth, who wasn't too into the game (unlike the rest of us), concentrated on getting as many photos of him during the game as she could.  She did a pretty good job getting photos of #63, as well as a few other players.

Winter Classic

For Christmas this year, we decided to give each other an experience, rather than tangible gifts.  When we heard that the Bruins were playing in the Winter Classic at Notre Dame, it seemed like fate.  We were able to use miles for our airline tickets, found a great hotel for a steal and then bought our game tickets.  It was a pretty cold day, but not so cold that we were uncomfortable during the game.  The Bruins won, which was awesome.  But either way, it was just so cool to watch the game with so many people and to introduce the girls to Notre Dame.

6am breakfast  - we were already sporting our gear!
Train to the car rental pickup.
My old dorm.

We said a prayer for Grammy at the Grotto, always her favorite place on campus.

At my favorite place with my favorite people watching my favorite team.

Weezer played "Africa" between the first and second periods.

More than 76,000 in attendance.  It was insane.  Emily is dying to go a home Bruins game now.

My Brad Marchand scored the final goal of the game.
Bruins win!
