March Odds and Ends

I feel like things really got back on track in our lives in March:

After 18 months in masks, the school mandate was finally lifted. Emily had never seen some of her classmates or teachers without a mask.

ID Camp for Emily. Slowly but surely feeling out the college process.

The boys basketball tournament games had some great themes, including Hawaiian (above) and jersey (below).

Winter track awards banquet.
Snow day baker.

Last ever indoor lacrosse game - playing with and against her Lax+ friends.
Elizabeth speaking at Convocation about Women's History Month.
Gym buddy.
Elizabeth just grinding out the workouts to get ready for lacrosse season.

The boys basketball team played for the state championship (and sadly lost) and Elizabeth took the fan bus to Mohegan Sun to see the game.

Winter Soccer

Emily's Sporting team had eight friendly games scheduled over the winter but it seemed that it snowed on or just before almost all of them, which meant that they only played four games between December and the end of March, when the spring season started.

Emily didn't play much in this game due to various circumstances, but did score this nice goal.

I love that her teammates are her biggest cheerleaders.

Pre-Season Lacrosse

The NWC girls lacrosse team had a successful pre-season, winning both of their scrimmages. After losing all but one game last season, this was great for their confidence. The regular season schedule is much more challenging than the pre-season one, but it has been nice to see them work together as a group and witness their enthusiasm. They also have a new coaching staff, which is bringing a completely different energy to the program.

Emily got to play attack against Enfield and scored an 8 meter shot.

The second game was against Middletown, which was so much fun, as the girls got to play against their former youth lacrosse teammates and their youth coaches were able to be there to watch the kids they coached over the years. Because it was a scrimmage, there was no official scorekeeper and both teams claimed victory when it was over. We will never know!
Bus ride.
Emily and Abby have only been teammates - lacrosse and soccer - for eight years.  This was their first time playing against each other and they were matched up, Abby on attack for Middletown and Emily on defense for NWC. Abby is an excellent lacrosse player and Emily had fun defending her.

Tierra and Elizabeth have been lacrosse besties for years.

Tierra fouled Elizabeth here - Elizabeth is laughing and Tierra looks chagrined.

Gabe had his own lacrosse practice after the scrimmage.
