Where is Nick: Week Three

This was Nick's last week with us until next Christmas!
On Sunday morning, Emily found Nick holding on for dear life to a candle holder in the living room!
On Monday, Nick was resting on the mantle, enjoying all of our Christmas cards.
On Tuesday, he got a piggy back ride from this wooden carving that we got on our honeymoon in Hawaii.
On Wednesday, he hung on for dear life to the hot water handle in our tub (which probably hasn't been used in more than two years).
On Thursday, Nick popped up from the lamp in our guest room.
On Friday, he found a home up high on one the living room speakers - Emily had been hoping that he would be there the entire month and was delighted to find him on Friday morning.
On Christmas Eve, he spent the day in our tree, as he does every year.

Christmas in New Hampshire

On the Saturday before Christmas, we celebrated the holiday with my family in New Hampshire.  My brother and his family hosted the festivities at their house (thank you Joe and Karen!) and the girls had a fabulous time hanging out with their cousins.  This year, in addition to purchasing gifts for Lee, their sister and me at their school Christmas store, the girls each bought presents for their cousins as well.  The gift giving was really great, as the girls were so excited about giving their presents and their cousins were so happy to receive them.  All five girls received some really great gifts from their aunts, uncles and grandparents and there was just so much laughter and merriment in the air.  After a delicious dinner, the girls put on a little show for us and then the adults had their annual book exchange (which was, due to a lack of controversial books, less lively than in past years).  All in all, it was a great day and so wonderful for our family to be together, even for a short period time of time.

So thrilled to get an Angry Bird stuffed animal!!

Visiting Santa

While we were at Disney, we had many opportunities to meet many different variations of Santa - Pere Noel in France; Father Christmas in the UK; Mickey and Minnie dressed as Mr. and Mrs. Claus - but in the end, we went with good, old-fashioned St. Nick.  The girls got the opportunity to talk to him separately and then together and after checking him out thoroughly, they declared that he was real Santa.

Christmas in Disney

The great thing about visiting Disney in December is that the place is completely decked out for Christmas.  I never got tired of entering our hotel and seeing all of the beautiful Christmas decorations.

Elizabeth loved the tree too (of course!).
Some of the displays in Epcot.
The giant Mickey wreath outside of the Contemporary Hotel.

There was a life sized gingerbread house inside the lobby of our hotel - it always smelled amazing!
