COVID-19 Diaries: Week Six

Well, another week of "quarantine" is over and we are still moving along.  The girls had vacation last week, so they had the chance to sleep in every morning, which they loved.  We missed seeing our families on Easter Sunday - we've only missed one Easter in New Hampshire in the last twenty years so it was a little tough on all of us.  Fortunately, it was a beautiful day and the girls spent a lot of time in the yard playing.  Mid-week, Emily and her soccer besties did a socially distant birthday "party" for one of their teammates, who they haven't seen in almost six weeks.  It was good for all of our souls to see her and her family.  This week, the girls are back to school work and the big day for all of us is April 23rd - when the CIAC meets to discuss the fate of spring high school sports in Connecticut.  At its last meeting, it held out hope for sports seasons that ran through July, so we are praying for positive news on this one.

Easter Sunday

We spent a lovely Easter Sunday in New Hampshire with Lee's extended family (and we even got my dad to come along). Elizabeth and Emily love playing with the children of Lee's cousins and the ages seem to be perfect - the girls are happy to entertain and the little ones love having big kids to play with.  Although we had a great time in New Hampshire, there can be no doubt that the highlight of the day was when Emily saw her Easter basket.

Although we still feel pretty strongly that Emily does not need a phone, she was starting to feel a bit left out socially, in particular with her soccer team, as there is a big group chat for the girls that she could not participate in.  We were going to wait until her birthday, but there is a tournament and some road games coming up, so we thought that Easter would be a good time.  She was definitely surprised and she was definitely appreciative.

I could watch this video a million times.  The changing facial expressions alone make it worth it.

We spent most of Easter Sunday in New Hampshire with our family.  We picked up my dad and took him to brunch with Lee's extended family, which was a nice way to spend the day.

Easter

On Easter Sunday, we drove up to New Hampshire for brunch with Lee's extended family.  There is a whole new generation of kids and Elizabeth is now the oldest, rather than the youngest.  We had a great time visiting with family, playing with the little ones and holding babies!

Easter

We had a very busy Easter Sunday.  The girls got up early to check out their Easter baskets and then we got ready and headed to New Hampshire to spend some time with both sides of the family.  Then it was back to Connecticut (we beat the traffic, yeah!) for a low key dinner.
