Seven Days of Ice Cream

We love hitting a different ice cream place every night while on vacation.

The girls ended the week with a Starbucks treat (and, if we're being honest, I started the week with my annual hot fudge sundae from The Puritan).

Brown's 2017

We made our annual trip to Brown's during our vacation, but it just wasn't the same.  For the first time, we went to Brown's without any of our family - we've been so used to go with at least my parents, and the last few years, most of my siblings and nieces have joined us too.  The lobsters, steamers and chowder were still yummy, but we missed the good company.

Lots of 2 pounders in there....

I've never seen kids plow through steamers like these two!

Loves her clam chowder!

Vacation 2017

I'm a bit late with this post, but we had a great vacation at Wallis Sands in late July.  The weather was mostly good, the waves were spectacular early in the week, and it was nice to be away from work, camps, soccer and academic commitments for a while.

Nightly races on the beach.

Twist Tournament

Last weekend, the GVSA 06 girls played in their final tournament of the summer.  They played in the Twist Tournament which, local for us, was only about 1/2 hour away.  The girls played very well - they beat a highly ranked team out of Massachusetts early Saturday morning in awful (close to 100% humidity, blazing sun) conditions and then won again in the afternoon.  Sunday morning, they took an early lead in the morning game and never looked back; but unfortunately, the girls didn't have enough in the tank for their last game on Sunday.  They lost 2-0 to a team that was playing its third game of the weekend (and then went on to lose its fourth game).  The two teams ended up with the same number of points in their division but because they won the head to head game, the other team advanced to the finals.  The girls played well over the weekend and we are looking forward to seeing what they can do during the regular season.

Corner kick

Emily is a lefty in soccer and almost always plays on the left side of the field.  The assistant coach thinks she will be a bigger threat if she plays on the right, cuts and shoots with her left, so he plays her on the right whenever he can.  Things backfired a bit on him though, as she scored two right footed goals on Sunday morning, including this one.
