Mornings

I think that we loved our mornings on the beach as much as our evenings.  There is just something so clam and peaceful about the sound of the ocean, especially when there are not a lot of other people around.  We also spent a lot of time exploring the tide pools.
It was really foggy some mornings.

This kid is always dancing.

While Elizabeth explored the tide pools with Daddy, Emily was content to hang out in the rocks and search for sea glass.

The tide was coming in a little too quickly for Emily to get around the rocks, so she got a ride from Daddy.

Beach Birthdays

Because the girls both have summer birthdays, they often receive early and belated birthday presents from family and friends while we are on vacation.  This year was no exception and they got some really great gifts.  I'm sure it's one of the many reasons they love vacation so much!!

Making Lemonade....

One of the best days of the week is the day that Janet and her boys visit and this year, Sheila and her family joined in too (but we missed the Findlen girls!!)!  The day started off disasterously - Janet's car wouldn't started and she need a jump just to get on the road; once she and the boys arrived, the sky opened up and it poured as we arrived at the beach (not that the kids noticed, they were already in the water).  But, we could see blue skies in the distance and so stuck out the 1/2 hour or so of rain, which led to a great day.  By the time Sheila and her family arrived, the skies were clearing and the kids all had a blast.  The adults enjoyed hanging out and chatting, just as we always do.  It was truly a day where we made lemonade from lemons!
Boogie boarding in the pouring rain.

I love Owen's faces.

Not the most lady-like pose from Elizabeth, but I love that all of the kids were up on the wall together.
