We were able to convince Aunt Denise to come stay with us for New Year's Eve and part of New Year's Day. The girls were over the moon with excitement - in part, because Aunt Denise is so much fun to play with and in part, because her arrival meant that something very exciting was going to happen - they were going to the movie theater for the first time. I wanted to take them to see The Princess and the Frog and Lee wanted no part of it (can you blame him) so Aunt Denise was the perfect partner in crime for me and she was delighted (or so she claims) to join us. Needless to say, the girls loved the movie. Afterwards, we all played games and had a fabulous dinner together. After the girls were in bed, Lee and I enjoyed Aunt Denise's good company, telling old stories, learning more family history, and sharing fond memories of Uncle Andy. The next morning, after a big breakfast that included what the girls now call "Aunt Denise bacon" (i.e., the real deal and not the turkey bacon that we usually have), we had a great time playing in the snow, making snow angels and building a snowman. We were missing Aunt Denise before she even pulled out of the driveway.....thanks so much for coming!!
Elizabeth makes the perfect snow angel with a little help from Aunt Denise.
Not to be outdone by her great nieces, Aunt Denise makes her own snow angel (above) while the girls look on in amazement (below).
Emily makes a snow angel too!
Emily starts on the base of a snowman.
The girls work together, rolling the giant snowball.
Putting in his buttons - we got a great "snowman kit" from Elizabeth's kindergarten teacher.
They named him "Frosty" - very original, I know.
Posing with Frosty and Aunt Denise.
