Maine Day

Last weekend, the girls and I took a quick trip up to Maine to spend the day with my friend Janet and her family.  The weather looked a little iffy, but it turned out to be a great beach day and although the sky looked threatening almost the entire day, only a few raindrops fell while we were there.  It was a great day for the kids and I always love catching up with Janet and her family.  The only downside was the trip home - usually, I stop at my parents and the girls shower and we eat, then I head back to Connecticut.  This year I wanted to get home early because Emily started soccer camp the next morning so we drove directly home - and it was quite the ride, taking more than four hours.  It took over an hour to get from Wells, Maine to the Maine/NH border, which is less than 20 miles.  It was nice to finally get home, but I may have to rethink my driving strategy for next year.
Road trip selfie.  This is what we do when Dad isn't around - take selfies.

The water was filled with seaweed, which you can see in the these photos (above and below).

The sky was spectacular all day, but other than a few rain drops, the weather held up for us.
A sleepover, followed by a late night, followed by an extremely long day and Elizabeth couldn't stay awake on the drive home.  Emily loved photo-bombing this one....
I have to say, there is no one I would rather sit in traffic with than these two - no complaining, no whining, just good company (unless they are sleeping - then it's just silence).
