Family Vacation 2014

As you probably already know, we spent the last nine days exploring our nation's capital and the surrounding area.  We had a wonderful time, but I know that deep down inside, even the girls are glad to finally be home.  During our trip, we logged more than 1,000 miles of driving and close to 25 hours in the car (close to a 1/4 of that time simply sitting in traffic), as well as more than 25 miles of walking - in hindsight, we should have purchased a pedometer before we left, because Lee and I are quite certain that we walked much more than that!  It was an exhausting nine days, but we certainly saw a lot of sights, making it a really great trip!  We will, of course, be sharing our adventures with you in the days to come.
So much stuff....
Reading up on Washington, D.C.

Virginia is for Lovers is an old joke - so we just had to take a picture when we saw this at a rest stop.
95 is a nightmare.
Even at night.
Taking photos from the car.

Almost home!

47 out of 51 ain't bad - although we were surprised that we saw both Alaska and Hawaii, but not Mississippi or Kansas!
