Jeans

If you follow our blog or see us on a regular basis, you have probably noticed something about our girls - they don't wear pants very often.  And they never wear jeans.  Elizabeth has not worn jeans since she was 4 - she doesn't like being constrained by them and, because of the way she is built, she has a hard time keeping them up.  Emily, who has been vocal about her clothing almost since the beginning, rarely wears pants at all - and has never, ever worn a pair of jeans.  Well last week, Emily battled a very bad case of poison ivy - from the knees down, her legs were completely covered in it.  Initially, most of it was treated with Calamine lotion and some of the larger areas were bandaged.  Because of the state of her legs - and because we don't want anyone at school to catch it from her - we told her that she has to wear long pants until it cleared up.  I actually feel really badly about this because the temperatures last week were July-like.  Anyway, she found a pair of hand-me-down jeans in her drawer last Monday morning (never worn by Elizabeth, handed down from their cousins) and decided that she was going to wear jeans to school.  I have to say, she looked absolutely adorable in them and couldn't wait to show them to Lee after she got dressed!  I can't believe that it took 5 years and 4 months for Emily to wear jeans for the first time!!
And for those of you wondering about how her poison ivy, it became so bad that she got an infection - but some super-strong antibiotics and the power of steroid cream have her on the mend and almost back to normal.
