I saved the best for last, although it is simply impossible for me to convey the joy that the girls experienced during our visit to American Girl Place. First of all, nothing could wipe the smiles off of their faces the entire time we were in the store, especially Elizabeth. It was because of her that we actually had to make two trips there! We started our day at AG Place about 4 minutes after the doors opened for the day. Both Elizabeth Cole had her hair done at the Salon and both EC and BB had a spa treatment, which made them look just like new. From the Salon, we headed to the Bitty Baby floor, so that Emily could spend her gift certificates - she looked at each and every item with delight and then made her selections, blowing through her gift cards in no time. We then headed back to the historical floor, so that Elizabeth could look through all of the historical items (even though they no longer sell Felicity and Elizabeth items), and then down to the My American Girl floor, where the rest of the clothing and accessories are sold. Elizabeth does not make snap decisions, so although she spent her gift certificates that morning, we ended up returning to AG Place in the afternoon so that she could spend the money that Aunt Denise alloted her for the trip (she wanted to check out FAO Schwartz and Toys R Us before making her decision). When her items totaled to more than her alloted amount, she dipped into her own wallet and spent every last dime she had to complete her purchase. That's right - Elizabeth returned from New York completely broke - but incredibly happy!!!
Selecting a hair style for Elizabeth Cole.
EC, getting her hair done.
Bitty Baby, ready for her spa treatment.
BB really needed a good cleaning!!
It took a while to do EC's hair.
Emily and Bitty Baby are so happy!!
EC's hair is beautiful!!
You can tell how happy EC is to have her hair nice and neat again.
Emily, on her shopping spree.
Hmmmm, what should I choose?
Paying with her gift cards.
Giving this Bitty Baby a little bath.
Checking out some of the mini historical dolls.
Because Elizabeth Cole was retired, we can't buy any outfits that are specific to her historical character. Elizabeth loved looking at Rebecca and Josephina's (above) clothes.
Resting.
Round 2 at American Girl Place.
Thrilled with her purchases!!
Elizabeth even carried her own bag (for a while).
My little shopper.

I have an original Samantha doll - and I wasn't even aware they retired her until a couple of years ago - she could use a trip to that spa before she gets passed down to Henrietta!
btw - you did a pretty good "impossible" job of conveying the joy!
Awww, that was so sweet! I can totally understand the joy they get from their dolls....now to convince my girls to spend a day in NYC instead of bday parties!!!
Duh, that last one was from me, IRENE!
