Early Mornings

Going on vacation with a 4 year old and a 5 year old isn't really a vacation - it's just staying someplace else with your kids.  For us, that means still getting up excruiatingly early in the morning, but we try to make the most of it.  During this trip, the girls awoke somewhere between 5:30 and 6:15 am and we were always on the beach before 7 am, sometimes much earlier.  At that hour, the beaches are practically deserted and it was fun looking for sea glass, starfish, crabs and all sorts of other creatures.

One morning, we found a lobster trap that had washed ashore during the overnight storm.
Another lobster!  In 35 years of going to the beach, I have never, ever seen a lobster (except for at Brown's) and this year, we saw one almost every day.
One morning, Lee found a baby eel.  Yuck!
There were starfish everywhere!
  On the hunt...

We also found tons of clams and clam shells this year.  This one had just spit at Elizabeth.

Ah, yes, it's not really a vacation with 2 little girls. It's something different, somewhere else! A vacation is someone else doing the cooking, cleaning, and childcare! Have you seen "Modern Family"? "This isn't a vacation, it's a business trip!!" Your photos are adorable though. :)
