Devil's Hopyard

We spent part of the holiday weekend hiking - normally, that is a word that I would put in quotes because seriously, how much hiking can a three and five year old handle?  A lot, apparently!  On Sunday, we headed out to Devil's Hopyard State Park and logged at least four miles of walking.  Although Emily hitched a ride for part of the way on Lee's shoulders, Elizabeth walked the entire time and had plenty of energy left over to run around our yard the rest of the afternoon.  They both made a one mile plus trip to the scenic vista, which was a steady - and sometimes quite steep - incline.  They loved the hike and we vowed to spend more weekends exploring Connecticut state parks with the girls, especially now that we know that they can handle it.
These two have no fear - climbing straight up this huge boulder.
Chapman Falls

Emily - one of the very few times she stopped talking and moving the entire day.
We saw all sorts of neat mushrooms - pink, green, brown, white and these orange ones.
Hiking straight uphill.
Resting at the scenic overlook.
Emily hitches a ride from Lee for part of the way back (notice the crack...)
