April Odds and Ends

A few photos and videos that didn't make it into April posts.

Flute recital selfie.
Elizabeth and Alex, her flute teacher.  Alex is working toward her Masters in Flute Performance and we attended one of her recitals, which was spectacular.

Lacrosse car wash.  Brave souls, letting these munchkins wash their vehicles!

They took a break from washing to do a little sign holding.  The line of cars was backed up to the street when these cuties were advertising!!

Grandparents Day with Marie!
Reading at mass.
Elizabeth and Lucy, after the play.
Emily had to memorize a poem for her April book report.  This is the final stanza of The Road Less Traveled, by Robert Frost.  To say that we were impressed that she was able to memorize the entire poem (and relatively quickly, too) would be an understatement.

Communion Party

After the First Holy Communion service, we had a small gathering with our family at our house.  It was nice to spend time with everyone and Emily had the chance to take photos with her family, mingle and open some very generous gifts.  Elizabeth was an enormous help to me, handling the responsibility for most of the set up while I was getting Emily ready and Lee was picking up the food.  It's amazing how grown up she is becoming.

First Communion

Emily made her First Holy Communion on Saturday and it was a beautiful day.  She was so excited, which made it so much fun for our family.  I must say, Emily looked absolutely gorgeous on her special day.

First Week of Lacrosse

The girls finished their first full week of lacrosse games, Emily playing three games and Elizabeth playing two.  In one week, Emily already played more games than Elizabeth did her entire first season.  It is so great to see how much girls lacrosse is really taking off in our town.  Neither team has won a game yet, but with such a young program, that's a pretty high expectation anyway, so no one seems too down.  Emily's team had a close 3-2 loss on Saturday morning, so that got them a little amped up.  We are learning more and more about the rules of the game every week and it is so much fun to watch.
Emily's first game was on a warm, balmy night.

Two nights later, Elizabeth played on the same field - it was brutally cold and windy, as you can tell from the sweatpants and sweatshirt that she put on under her uniform (in the porta potty - ewww.  We don't use public restrooms and certainly not porta potties, so she must have been freezing!).

Middletown Lacrosse Day was last Sunday, with boys and girls lacrosse games running at all times all day long.  So much fun!
