The GVSA girls finished out summer soccer playing at the TWIST tournament. Emily had three goals and two assists, playing every minute of every game in the blazing heat. It will be her last time playing forward for a while, so she really enjoyed herself.
Yesterday, we helped Elizabeth move into her dorm at the University of New Haven. She was incredibly nervous and anxious leading up to to move, as she is not one for change and this was a lot of change all at once - new city, new room, new classes, new friends, new food. Although only scheduled to take two hours, by the time we got everything out of the truck, into the room and set up the room with her roommate and family, it took almost the entire day. That really seemed to help calm Elizabeth and ease her into the whole process.
We had a great week at the beach, with wonderful weather and water that was freezing cold, but not so cold to prevent us from taking a swim every day. I'm not sure how many of these vacations we have left, so it was nice to spend so much time together.
The NWC girls soccer team had a great time in summer league play. Although they rarely had more than one or two subs (sometimes none!) and always played with a mix of JV and Varsity players the field, they were somehow undefeated over six game. We hope this is a sign of good things to come this fall!
The group for our annual family trip to Brown's was a bit smaller this year as Peter had COVID and Karen had a concussion, but those of us that were able to make it made a strong showing, putting away plenty of lobster, steamers and clam chowder. We finished it all off with a trip to the Beach Plum (formerly Pope's) for ice cream (and a parking ticket).
