The NWC girls lacrosse team started off the season with six games April, and six losses. Most of them were blowouts, although there was a thrilling 14-13 loss, when the girls stepped up and played as a team instead of individuals and took Avon by surprise. They could not hold the ball long enough at the end and Avon was able to score with a few seconds left, but the game gave us a glimpse into the kind of team they could be if they put their minds to it. Elizabeth and Emily have both been playing well - scoring goals, getting (a lot of) yellow cards and really working to hold the team together. Here's hoping May brings better results.
When your coach high fives you after you get a yellow card....
This is right up there with one of my favorite lacrosse photos - just Emily, getting cross checked to the neck by one of Elizabeth's LaxPlus teammates (and yes, the player got a yellow card).
Questioning one of the ref's calls and getting an explanation.
Oh look - another yellow card.
Incredible stick skills.
