FC Delco Tournament

Last weekend, Emily and I drove to Pennsylvania with Abby and Kate for the FC Delco tournament.  Abby and Emily played with the CFC 05 team under what can only be described as challenging circumstances - at the last minute, the coach was unable to go because his daughter was hospitalized with double pneumonia and MERSA; the best player on the team was pulled up to the 04 team because, due to injuries, they couldn't put 11 players on the field without her; and, after a devastating 9-1 loss in the second game, one of their teammates quit.  Regardless, it was a great weekend for Emily.  She and Abby had a great time playing soccer and hanging out; the team rallied for a 2-2 tie on Sunday morning, playing really great soccer; and Kate and I learned that we really can stand to be with each other for hours and hours and hours and hours and still not run out of things to talk about!
Obligatory pre-road trip selfie.
Kate drove this time around - and was a trooper, despite the fact that it took us more than 7 hours to get there on Friday.
Saturday morning.
Emily didn't play that great on Saturday morning - apparently, she was exhausted, as she slept hard between games.
Whatever the coaches said after the 9-1 defeat, it worked.  This is my girl after one of her worst soccer losses.
In the pool.
Brown rice and chicken for breakfast, with a side of homework.  She is the easiest person to travel with and I was impressed that she did so much school work over the weekend.
The girl loves a hotel!
We stayed in Wilmington, DE although the girls played in Aston, PA - back and forth, back and forth.
Playing defense on Sunday morning.

She had a shot go off the post in the final game - it was very exciting!
