Soccer

Elizabeth is playing her third year of soccer this fall and is really improving a lot.  For her first two years, she played defense almost all of the time and she did a good job.  This year, she is playing on a bigger field with bigger nets and bigger kids, which means that she does A LOT of running.  Her coach is really good about rotating the kids through all of the positions, even when it is clear that they are really good at one or another.  Because of that, she's been playing a lot of forward and really seems to be coming into her own in that position, much to our surprise.  Last weekend, she had three shots on net and Lee and I were beside ourselves.  On Saturday, she scored her first goal ever and the first goal of a game that was also her team's first win of the season.  I am not exaggerating when I say that watching her score might have been the best moment of my life.  I was shaking, almost crying and so filled with pride and joy - Lee and I were screaming and hugging on the sidelines.  Clearly, we were way more excited about it than she was!!  It was a moment we will never forget!!!
She has speed and stamina, an amazing combination to watch.  She never gives up.

Elizabeth and Nathan were team captains last Sunday.

I love this photo - one of Elizabeth's first shots on net.  Her friend Elisabeth is the defender.
