Among the many winning ideas: a mop and a broom (so that she can help out around the house), a bag of peanut M&Ms, steak for daddy to cook on the grill, a jewel for her pandora bracelet, and a real-live goldfish (as if having two dogs and a cat wasn't enough!).
One small victory: We gave Elizabeth the choice between having a birthday party and spending a day in New York City. Happily, she chose New York City. Thank you Lord.

She will be pooped by 2 p.m.! We took Julia to the Rockettes at Xmas and by the time the show started at 2 p.m., she was ready for the train home. Her favorite parts of the day: Mac and cheese at the Olive Garden, and the pigeons everywhere! Geez, we could have done that at home without spending all that money!
she could change her mind between now and then....look out
Irene, she's been to NYC twice, so that's probably why she'd rather go back than have a party. We did the tree in 2008 and Brooklyn in 2009; but Emily has never been, she really wants her to go too.
Karen, she might change her mind, but I'm hoping that the only thing she changes her mind about is the goldfish - she seems pretty adamant about getting one and it's not going to happen!!
