In mid May, a few days after Elizabeth graduated from the University of New Haven, she packed up her new car and she and Lee headed off to New Mexico. They drove to Columbus, Ohio the first night; St. Louis, Missouri the second night; and Amarillo, Texas the third night; finally arriving in Albuquerque on the morning of their fourth day of driving. Emily and I tracked them as they drove and then hopped a flight to Albuquerque on Friday morning to meet them. We spent the weekend moving Elizabeth into her temporary home and becoming more familiar with the area. Lee and Elizabeth really enjoyed their drive - both the chance to bond and the chance to see the country.

Spring Odds and Ends
After 18 years of service, Lee retired from the Y in early March. As his spouse, it was a thrill to see how much he meant to so many members. So many people attended his work party on his last day and then, the following week, a whole other crowd of friends took him out to show how much of an impact he has had on them over all these years.

And We Have a College Graduate!
On Saturday, Elizabeth graduated summa cum laude from the University of New Haven. She finished her undergraduate degree in three years and in her final year, she also worked full time, volunteered 12 hours a week at CDHR and played club lacrosse. She graduated as the top student in the National Security program and will return to New Haven in the fall to complete her masters degree. We are incredibly proud of her and all that she has accomplished these last three years.

Spring Hikes
One of the things that Lee and I committed to when he decided to retire was better overall fitness - not just going to the gym, but getting outside and hiking, walking more and just talking better care of ourselves. To that end, we joined a hiking group and we've been hiking a few mornings a week and loving it. The people are interesting, the conversation flows nonstop and we are always checking out new trails. It's definitely one of the best life changes we've made over the last few years.
