Museum of American History

The first Smithsonian museum that we visited was the Museum of American History.  I thought that it would blow the girls away and that we would never leave - but I was wrong.  They liked it, but after a few hours, they were ready to move on.

Abraham Lincoln's hat, bronzed.
Mask of Abraham Lincoln's face.
Archie Bunker's chair - this one's for you, Dad!
Andrew Jackson's military uniform.
Awesome star-spangled banner.  The actual flag that inspired Francis Scott Key is on display in the museum but no photography is allowed in the exhibit.
The hi-light of the museum was the display of First Lady dresses.  Emily photographed every one of them.  This one belonged to Mary Todd Lincoln.
Jackie Kennedy
Michelle Obama
Emily did a report on President Garfield (who also happens to be one of my favorite presidents) and was delighted every time she happened upon his name.
