During the month of May, Elizabeth's class learned about different cultures, discussing different languages, clothes and food. Each student was tasked with doing a project - writing a report/poster, bringing in something from a country, or making a treat from a country - that represented the country or countries that their family was from. Elizabeth made a poster about Canada, Ireland and Poland, encompassing her complete heritage and researching the information herself. Then she asked me to make Irish Soda Bread, which I confess I never made in my life. We did a trial run and decided that it was yummy, so I made another loaf for her class. Apparently, both her poster and the bread were a huge hit!
Researching.
Her poster.
Irish Soda Bread, which I had to make fresh the morning that her project was due (and deliver to school) because "it tastes soooo good warm, with butter."
