Hot Summer in the City

Our annual shopping trip to New York was pushed up to July this year due to the girls' busy summer schedules.  Unfortunately, the trip fell on the hottest day of the hottest week of the year.  The temperatures soared above 100 degrees in the City, but we sucked it up and shopped 'til we dropped.  Actually, we slowed our pace considerably and drank a ton of water; and I checked in with Lee every hour, to let him know how we were holding up.  We were particularly worried about Emily, who suffered a bit of heat stroke the night before we left but rallied to make the trip.
It "felt like" 100 degrees before we even got out of Grand Central Terminal.
We broke up the walk between American Girl Place and FAO Schwarz with a stop at St. Patrick's Catheral.  Elizabeth was a bit resistent at first, but the budding architect in her nearly swooned once she got a look at the inside.
Simple iPhone photos cannot do the inside of this place justice.

Inside FAO Schwarz - hamming it up.
Mr. Nick loves Nerds and so the girls made me take this picture and send it to him.
Getting a tattoo.

Same design - different colors.
When we got home, Emily gave Aunt Denise her own glitter tattoo, seeing as she didn't get one at FAO Schwarz.
