Summer Brook Valley Farm

Over the long weekend, we took the girls to a local alpaca farm, one of those places that you could easily drive right by without knowing it was there.  We read about the farm, which is only open to the public one weekend a year, on the local news blog and decided to check it out - we all love animals, so we know we couldn't go wrong.  The girls loved seeing and touching the alpacas and Emily especially loved the miniature lamb!  It was such a great learning experience.
Emily and this little lamb were quite enamored by each other.
    Smiling lamb....
 ....smiling Emily.
Petting one of the baby alpacas - the mom is on the other side of the gate, watching very closely.

This is one of two "guard" llamas - the farm owner told us that the llamas chase off all potential hunters of the alpacas, including wolves, coyotes and other animals.  Impressive!
Learning how to make yarn from the alpaca wool.
Elizabeth, writing out her experience in her journal on the way home.
