All Saints Day

The girls have a new principal at their school this year and one of the many great ideas she has brought to the school is the celebration of All Saints Day.  She was not too keen on celebrating Halloween during the school day, but she suggested that instead, the students celebrate All Saints Day - it is, after all, a Catholic school!  The students each selected a saint and dressed up in a way that represented that saint - students in the upper grades worked on in depth projects about their selections.  Emily decided to be Mary, the mother of Jesus.  Lee and I know that she picked this particular saint so that she could bring her Bitty Baby to school, but she was adorable nonetheless.  Elizabeth chose Saint Elizabeth of Hungary, a saint that she learned about while reading ahead in her religion book.  She did a google image search and in almost all of the pictures of St. Elizabeth, she was wearing a white dress and a red cloak.  She also carried a basket of bread with her, symbolism for the miracle of the roses.  Both girls looked absolutely adorable in their costumes and they had a terrific time at school that day!
