I have not really been posting about our house progress because, to be honest, I feel like things are standing still. Lee removed the last of the aluminum siding and the awnings a few weeks ago and ever since, he's been scraping. And scraping. And scraping. Because of the height of the house and the slope of the lawn, he's had to use three different ladders at various times. It's exhausting work, but so important that he can't cheat at all. Best of all, because it's lead paint, Lee has to wear goggles (to protect his eyes from those pesky, sharp paint chips) and a respirator - so he's really uncomfortable. The good news - on Tuesday, he finished scraping. If he can power wash this weekend, we might actually get some primer on the house in the next week or so. Here's hoping!
While Lee has been scraping, I've been doing my best to keep up with the Jones - i.e., the rest of my neighbors, whose yards look unbelievably good. Over the last two weekends, I bark mulched just about everywhere, planted some new perennials and hung several beautiful plants from the porch.

O.k., the front of your home looks like this month's Country Living! Looks like you will have good painting weather this weekend, fun, fun! Keeping up with the Jones......I have been just trying to keep up!
I have a tip for you and your hanging plants. Instead of watering them with water that will drain out quickly and not provide adequate moisture, fill them with ice cubes. They will melt slowly, ensuring great moisture and it won't drip all over your porch!! :-)
