This morning, I ran in the first annual Blum Shapiro 5K, part of my goal of running a 5K every month over the summer. Even though this is a new race, it was pretty well attended and very well run. The course went through the streets near the TPC in Cromwell, which next week will host the Travelers Championship. I wanted to run under 26 minutes and I did (just barely!) with a time of 25:58. I finished 84th out of 269 overall (men and women), so I can't really complain. More importantly, I learned a lot about pre-race prep and third mile pacing, both of which I can hopefully take into my next run. The pictures below were taken by Lee, who faithfully came out with the girls to cheer me on.
Before the race.
The runners at the start line.
The finish line (for the race with the longest name ever!)
At the finish - I'm smiling because the girls were screaming "GO MOMMY!!"
