On Saturday, I ran the CT Race in Park, my first 5K in eight months. I ran as a member of our YMCA's Team Lin, which was a huge team that included its namesake Lin, a three year breast cancer survivor. The conditions were not ideal (pouring rain for the men's race, oppressively humid and sunny for the women's race), but I ran a PR of 26:23 (one minute faster than my time in the Alliance Against Cancer race), so I was pleased. Team Lin had the top female team finish and Lin was the first survivor to cross the finish line. More pictures here.
The start and finish line.
Our friend Amy had a PR of 23:24.
Here I am, at the finish (grateful that I was able to pass a few people with my kick). I'm going to try to run a race every month this summer and I'm hoping to better my time with each race.
Lin, our team's namesake, the first finishing survivor!
Maureen and Amy - sweaty, hot and happy to be done!
