Whale Watch

We've been wanting to go on a whale watch for a few years, but we never thought that the girls would have the stamina to make such a long trip.  This year, however, we decided to give it a shot and ended up going out on Elizabeth's birthday.  We saw four different whales, which were really amazing.

Ready to set sail.
Freezing.
We spotted a minke whale about 8 miles out and followed it for about ten minutes.
If you look closely, you can see a circle of still water in the center of the photo - that is the "footprint" that whales leave when they dive.

It was a long wait (and drive) to see our next whale.  We ended up at Jeffrey's Ledge, which is about 32 miles from shore, and finally saw three different humpbacks.

We were out for five hours and these two were happy to be going home.  There were about 60 people on the whale watch and all but about 15 or so got sick.  The seas were calm but the swells were huge.  It was definitely an experience.
Emily slept almost the entire ride back.
