The Wonder of It All....

A few weeks ago, the girls had the day off from school and I was unexpectedly able to take the day off from work.  One of the cases that I manage at work started a jury trial on October 2nd and I haven't been able to spend much time with the family (and won't be able to for the rest of the month either), so we wanted to make sure that we did something fun together to make up for the fact that I wouldn't be around much in October.  The weather was horrible, so going to the Durham Fair was out of the question.  Instead, went to the Mashantucket Pequot Museum, which is a very cool museum that one of the local Indian tribes created and maintains.  Lee and I have been a few times before, but it was the girls' first visit and they loved it.  Afterwards, we went to Foxwoods Resort and Casino to walk around and then have lunch.  It was an interesting experience, to say the least.

The fire tower.
View of the Foxwoods Resort and Casino from the top of the fire tower.
You could see for miles - in a few weeks, when the foliage is in its full glory, I'm sure the view is spectacular!
The only place cameras were allowed was in the lobby - but you get the sense of how "real life" the figures were throughout the museum.

I took this shot with my phone - this is a huge, interactive scene about hunting caribou.
One of the exhibits was a huge room filled with different scenes - each scene had a corresponding number and you could listen to what was happening with "phones" - definitely Elizabeth's favorite part of the visit.
