April Soccer

The Sporting girls have had a rough spring so far, losing every game in the top division of EDP.  In many instances, they have been able to hang tough with their opponents, only to give up a goal late in the game, quickly followed by a few more as they get down on themselves.  We are hoping that May brings more success and a few wins!

She played a few JPII Varsity games as well.  Nothing like being over-scheduled.

Wearing the coveted Captain armband.  She could not have been more excited - she thinks that she was picked because of good play at the last game and good practices that week; Lee thinks that it was simply her turn.  Regardless, she played her best game of the spring while wearing it.

After a particularly tough game - it was hot and she played the whole game (80 minutes). Drinking water, icing both shins (and her groin).

NWC Lacrosse

Lacrosse is, without a doubt, Elizabeth's favorite sport and she was so excited for the season to begin.  After four days of tryouts, she was extremely disappointed to make the JV team, rather than varsity and Lee and I spent a lot of time convincing her that JV would be fine because she would get a lot of playing time.  Turns out, we were right.  A few of the freshmen and sophomores that made varsity rarely play and Elizabeth usually plays the entire JV game.  She is loving every second of playing and  even starting to catch the varsity coach's eye - sometime practicing with the varsity and sometimes sitting on the varsity bench during their games.  We just want her to improve and have fun, and that seems to be happening so all in all, the season is a success.

Easter Sunday

We spent a lovely Easter Sunday in New Hampshire with Lee's extended family (and we even got my dad to come along). Elizabeth and Emily love playing with the children of Lee's cousins and the ages seem to be perfect - the girls are happy to entertain and the little ones love having big kids to play with.  Although we had a great time in New Hampshire, there can be no doubt that the highlight of the day was when Emily saw her Easter basket.

Although we still feel pretty strongly that Emily does not need a phone, she was starting to feel a bit left out socially, in particular with her soccer team, as there is a big group chat for the girls that she could not participate in.  We were going to wait until her birthday, but there is a tournament and some road games coming up, so we thought that Easter would be a good time.  She was definitely surprised and she was definitely appreciative.

I could watch this video a million times.  The changing facial expressions alone make it worth it.
